Run a company step challenge without spreadsheets.
StepRacers gives workplace organizers a simple way to launch a private walking challenge, invite coworkers, and let departments or offices race head-to-head on a live leaderboard. Run a quick 10-day sprint or an ongoing league — your call.
Quick answer
For a low-admin company step challenge, create a private StepRacers race, set it to any length (a 10-day sprint is a popular default), share the race code in Slack or email, and let employees — or whole departments — compete from the free iOS or Android app. It is a practical fit for remote teams, office rivalries, and seasonal movement pushes.

Company step challenge FAQ
What is a 10-day company race-in-a-box?
It is a short workplace step race you can launch with a private StepRacers race, a race code, a Slack or email invite, and a lightweight template. The goal is to get teams moving without turning the challenge into a spreadsheet project.
Does StepRacers include HR reporting or rewards administration?
StepRacers focuses on the part employees actually engage with - the live competition. It handles private team races, live leaderboards, and social motivation, and stays out of your way on admin. For heavy HR reporting or rewards fulfillment, run it alongside your existing wellness platform.
Can we use this for remote or hybrid teams?
Yes. Remote and hybrid employees can join the same private race with the race code and participate from the StepRacers mobile app.
What should our step goal be?
Choose a goal that matches your group's baseline and keeps the race inclusive. For a 10-day challenge, many organizers start with a simple total-step goal or let the leaderboard drive competition.
How do employees join the race?
Employees download StepRacers on iOS or Android, allow step permissions, and enter the race code shared by the organizer.
Do participants need a Fitbit?
No. StepRacers is independent from Fitbit and is designed around phone-based health data, so participants do not need to be on the same device ecosystem.
Can we cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions renew monthly and you can cancel with one click from your dashboard's billing page — no email, no call. You keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
What happens to our races if we cancel?
Races keep running until the end of your paid period, and existing results stay visible to employees in the app afterwards. Your data is kept, so if you resubscribe later you pick up exactly where you left off.
What if more people join than our plan covers?
Team covers up to 25 racers, Company up to 75, and Multi-site up to 200. If more people want in, upgrade to the next tier from your dashboard's billing page — it applies immediately and nobody gets kicked off the leaderboard mid-race.
