Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 9, 2026

Welcome to Stepracers! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Stepracers mobile application (the "App") and any related services provided by us ("we", "our", "us"). By using Stepracers, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Who Can Use Stepracers

To use the app, you must be:

  • At least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age in your country), and
  • Able to form a legally binding agreement.

If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

2. Your Account

When you sign up, you must provide accurate information including a username and email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage from unauthorized use of your account.

3. What You Can and Can't Do

You agree not to:

  • Use Stepracers for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent activity
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the app or its systems
  • Use bots or automated scripts to manipulate the game or results
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we believe you're violating these rules.

4. Subscriptions

Stepracers Pro is available as an auto-renewable subscription. The following plans are offered:

  • Monthly: $4.99/month
  • Annual: $39.99/year (saves 33%)

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.

You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID Account Settings. No refunds will be provided for any unused portion of a subscription period.

Pro features include Step Lock (app blocking until step goals are met), races with up to 15 players, and access to all cosmetic packs.

4a. Company Plans (Team Subscriptions)

Company plans are monthly subscriptions purchased by card on our website via Stripe. The following applies to company plan subscriptions:

  • What you buy: ongoing access to company step challenges for your organization — the Team plan covers up to 25 participants, Company up to 75, and Multi-site up to 200. You can run unlimited races while your subscription is active.
  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically each month and are charged to your card via Stripe until cancelled. Prices exclude VAT, which is added where applicable; EU businesses providing a valid VAT ID are billed under the reverse-charge mechanism.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from the billing page of your organizer dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep full access until then. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
  • After your subscription ends: races can no longer be created or joined, but existing results remain visible to participants in the app and your data is retained so you can resubscribe later.
  • Plan changes: upgrade or downgrade between tiers at any time from the billing page; Stripe prorates the difference from the next billing date.
  • Price changes: we will notify you by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect on your subscription.
  • Invoices: Stripe issues a receipt for every charge and invoices are available from the billing page; contact us at wecare@stepracers.com if your finance team needs anything more formal.

The subscription terms in Section 4 (Apple billing, subscription refunds) apply only to the consumer StepRacers Pro subscription, not to company plans, which are billed via Stripe as described above.

5. Step Lock Feature

Step Lock is a premium feature that uses Apple's Screen Time API to temporarily restrict access to apps you select until you reach your daily step goal. By using Step Lock, you acknowledge and agree:

  • Step Lock requires iOS 16 or later and your explicit authorization via Apple's Family Controls permission prompt.
  • You are solely responsible for selecting which apps to block and setting your step goal.
  • Stepracers is not responsible for any disruption, missed notifications, or inconvenience caused by blocked apps.
  • You can disable Step Lock at any time from within the app.
  • Step Lock data (app selections, blocking schedules) is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

6. Data Collection and Privacy

We collect and use certain data as described in our Privacy Policy. This includes your step count, race performance, username, and email. By using the app, you consent to our collection and use of this data in accordance with the policy.

7. Ownership and Content

We own all rights to the app, its content, graphics, and code, except for any user-generated data like your username and racing results. You may not copy, distribute, or exploit any part of the app without our written permission.

8. Disclaimers

We do our best to make Stepracers fun and reliable, but:

  • We provide the app "as is," with no warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee the app will be error-free or always available
  • We are not responsible for any health issues or injuries that may result from your use of the app. You use it at your own risk, and we recommend you consult a doctor before starting any fitness activity

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at our discretion if you violate these Terms or we decide to discontinue the service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
